Sending FortiGate Alerts to Discord Channel

FortiGates have the ability to send alerts to Microsoft Team & Slack but did you know that you can send alerts to Discord?  Yes Discord.  Here is my configuration.

First lets create the Channel side on Discord

Creating Channel 

Create a new channel or use an existing one.

Right Click on the Channel and choose Edit Channel

Once in there, choose Integrations and Choose Create Webhook

Modify the information and change the avatar if you’d like.

Give it a descriptive name.

Then choose Copy Webhook URL and save it in a safe spot.

Configuring the Stitch 

Now we are going to head to the FortiGate

Go to System Fabric and Automation then choose Trigger on the top, and finally Create new.

The trigger is going to control what is going to need to occur in order to lauch the automation.

Give it a name and Choose FortiOS Event Log and in my example, I used Admin login successful save this and lets go to the

Now on the top, chose Action

Scroll down to Webhook and choose it.

  1. Give it a name
  2. Change from the default of HTTP to HTTPS
  3. Enter the webhook URL from the step above.
  4. Ensure that it is set to POST
  5. This is the body (I have sample code below)
  6. In this section type Content-Type .
  7. In this section type application/json
  8. Hit OK.

Here is the content for step number 5 above.

Use the % button to see what options you can add to the HTTP body

Now we are going to put It all together.

So we have a Trigger that says Admin Logins and a Discord Action.  Hit OK.

Now you can login to the FortiGate with an administative account.  Go to your Discord server.
