Disabling the FortiConverter Nag Message on Enterprise Bundle FortiGates

As you know, the Enterprise Bundle includes the following  (IPS, AI-based Inline Malware Prevention, DLP, App Control, Adv Malware Protection, URL/DNS/Video Filtering, Anti-spam, Attack Surface Security, Converter Svc, FortiCare Premium).  In this quick post, I will address the Converter Svc.  Many of my customers purchase the Enterprise Bundle for the additional protection.  However you will notice that you get the following nag message when you login. If you are using FortiManager for instance, you do not require FortiConverter service since you will just push the config down to it.  The FortiGate will still show the message.

How to verify and Disable the message

I am bluring the host name since this is an actual customer that asked me to do this and although the name does not include the customer name…. I don’t like doing that.

To validate the status of the prompt, there are two values returned; Visible or Hidden. You can run the following command:

diagnose sys forticonverter get-prompt-visibility

As you can see in the above screenshot, it shows Visible.

Now we will hide the prompt with the following command:

diagnose sys forticonverter set-prompt-visibility hidden

You can see I the previous command used the get-prompt and now I am using the set-prompt and giving it the hidden action.

Now when we run the get-prompt as above, we get a return message of hidden.

Hope this helps.
